Past Performance

ED&C has expended the resources necessary to ensure its high quality programs are delivered in a timely fashion within budget, using quality-driven, reliable suppliers, and delivered to a satisfied customer. This is illustrated by ED&C's strong past performance in logistics support, equipment design and deployment of national material handling projects.

Timeliness

Throughout its forty year history, ED&C has been required to meet aggressive timelines with quality systems that adhere to the contract. Processes have been developed based on actual experience within one of the strictest international industries - the automotive industry. Within this industry, there is no room for companies who cannot meet a project schedule with a reliable, high quality and fully functional system. To measure a project's timeliness, an overall program schedule is developed for each project. This schedule is reviewed daily and supported by the project team.

Quality

The ED&C quality control program is based on the requirements of the automotive industry; an industry that can potentially lose more than $15,000 per minute if there is a non-conforming part or mis-engineered system. For this reason, processes are developed and procedures are written within ED&C to reflect this stringent need for defect prevention rather than defect correction.

Cost Control

ED&C is highly sensitive to its customers' need to be assured that the price quoted during contract negotiations is in fact the price charged at the end of the project. For this reason, ED&C has historically employed cost control practices aimed at accurately forecasting project costs. One example of an innovative cost control practice is the utilization of an online auction system for common mid-to-high volume materials. This online auction service allows ED&C to invite multiple suppliers to bid on the same item online. The supplier with the lowest price wins a contract with ED&C to supply that product for a specified period of time. By employing practices such as this, ED&C's customers know they are receiving the highest quality system as a very competitive cost.

Supply Chain Management

ED&C customers benefit from the long-term, proven relationships ED&C has developed with its suppliers. ED&C views supply chain management as a vital element of successful program execution, and for this reason, supply chain management as ED&C is an ongoing activity that is not dependent upon one contract or another. Suppliers are selected based on many factors including quality, functionality, availability, reliability, and price. By investing the time and resources to develop a strong and diverse team of suppliers, ED&C assures its customers of projects that are completed ontime, within budget and to the highest levels of quality. The following occurs between ED&C and its suppliers: Those suppliers providing critical and long-lead items must participate in careful planning with ED&C and develop contingency plans to ensure ontime delivery of quality components.

ED&C participates in supplier site visits, product and specification reviews, and testing to determine the best equipment for its customers. ED&C also assists its suppliers in developing procedures that encourage efficiency and then reduce both the supplier's and ED&C's costs.

Open lines of communication are maintained with all vendors regardless of current contract needs. By forecasting future needs, researching new products options and negotiating product costs independent of project requirements, ED&C and its suppliers are able to maintain the customer-vendor relationship in a way that significantly benefits ED&C's customers.
Long-term supplier contracts and/or agreements are encouraged to ensure subcontractor commitment.

Whenever possible, ED&C seeks out commercially available equipment to minimize costs and maximize competition.
By maintaining long-term, mutually respectful relationships with its suppliers, ED&C is assured of suppliers who are willing to go that extra step to ensure the success of a program. This is critical in meeting the quality and scheduling requirements ED&C sets for itself and its customers expect.
